Message: Forgive God

In King James Version of the bible, “Forgive” is found 56 times; forgiven is found 42 times; forgiveness is found 7 times; forgiving is found 4 times.
Forgive is a two-word which are “for” and “give”. “For” means on account of; because of; in place of; in favour of; concerning; and answering to. “Give” is used 880 times. Forgive is used in 8 ways in the Scripture:
a.       To give (Gen. 1:15, 17; Pr. 1:4)
b.      Asking in prayer (I Ki.8:36, 39; Ps. 5:1; 55:1; 60:11; 141:1)
c.       To render thanks for (I Chron. 16:8, 28, 34, 41; Ps.96:8; 106:1)
d.      To  permit (Ps. 132:4; Pr.6:4)
e.       To pacify (Rom. 12:19)
f.        To yield to or obey (Eph.4:27)
g.       Take heed to (1 Tim.1:4)
h.      To attend to (1 Tim.4:13-15)
Mt. 6:12 says “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”
Pr. 19:17 says “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again”
The first question that may arise in your heart is “can anyone forgive God?” or “does God needs to be forgiven?” today, we’ll found out that it’s possible that God need to be forgiven by you for your benefit.
Every relationship of man is horizontal and vertical in nature. Horizontal means man-to-man while Vertical means man-to-God or God-to-man.

With the above scriptural references, forgiveness is a must if we must obtain the mercy of God. From the beginning, we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). From the day we’re born, we’re born into sin. We own God a lot even our lives. It’s important you keep this in mind. I was in a restaurant and I ordered for food. The owner of the shop was drinking strong drink. I started preaching to her telling her Jesus loves her and that her life can become better if she stop her bad ways and embrace Him. Then she told me- Pastor, I was once a Christian. I fasted a lot; I paid my tithes and give offerings yet nothing good was coming to me. Due to the frustration I went through, I decided to follow the life am living now. After she said that, I ask myself a question- “How many people have backslidded because they expected God to move at a set-time yet nothing happened? The Bible says “he who gives (hath pity or show kindness) to the poor, LENDS to God…” (Emphasis mine) That means every act of giving is a debt God owns you. The problem is that most often He doesn’t have one way He pays back but HE’LL SURELY PAY YOU beyond what you give. Because you don’t see result today, doesn’t mean it’ll not come or that it came but the enemy (Satan) has taken it from you.
GOD IS NOT THE REASON FOR YOUR FAILURES OR DEFEAT! To fail typically means “your strength couldn’t match the challenges” (Prov. 24:10) while to experience defeat typically means “though your strength match the challenges yet an extra force counter against you illegally” (Lk.11:21-22). Whatever it is that you experienced- failure or defeat, God is not reason why you are down. Many times because we want to sound “faithful” or we don’t want people to think we’ve “backslidded”, our mouth blame the devil while our heart blame God. Am talking to people who know they’re trying to please God or they are committed in God’s Kingdom expansion agenda and yet it seems nothing tangible is happening in their lives.

Forgive God. Your righteousness is like filthy rag before Him (Isa. 64:6). God is not moved by your righteous works but by the blood of Jesus Christ. None of your righteous works can earn you the least need in the world. Take for instance: the breath in your nostril, who gave it to you? How much are you paying to take one snuff of oxygen? Stop blaming God for your failures. There’re two persons you should blame for every failure or defeat that you go through.
1.      The devil – Jn.10:10
2.      Yourself – Mt. 7:24-27
The reason you had remain grounded is because you thought it was God’s fault for allowing the devil to stop you. James 1:17 says “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…” our God is a good God. Trust Him in good times and in bad times. He’ll not fail you. Lam.3:22 says “It’s of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions FAIL not.”
It is by God’s super endless mercy that still keeps the world today. God is not the reason why you’re down. Arise; wake up to your responsibility. He’ll reward you at due time (Heb.6:10) Bishop David Oyedepo (president of Living Faith Church popularly known as Winners Chapel) said after going through some hard disappointing times in life and ministry. He said, God told him “if you had lost ANYTHING, it is because of me (GOD) that you haven’t lost EVERYTHING.” The great men you see today are men who had experience divers failures or defeat in one area or the other yet they held onto their beliefs. In most cases, Success is actually defined as “99% failure, 1% favour”. When the going get tough, the tough get going! Ministry is military! Don’t pack your bag yet. It’s not yet over. Who says God can not visit you this year? Who says you cannot still marry? Who says you won’t pass that exam this time? Who says divine favour is not your portion? Don’t pack your bag yet? Forgive God and ask Him to forgive you. This is because every act of un-forgiveness to man or to God is a sin and it’s still the same God that will forgive you. Take for instance Job a righteous man. A man God boasted to Satan as  the most blameless man on earth in his time yet suffered for the sins he didn’t do. Yet with all the sufferings, he said- “though he slays me, yet I will trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him” (Job 13:15). The man that was born blind didn’t commit sin yet he was blind. He would have blame God and remain in flames but rather he chooses to believe God who holds all keys in his hands. You’ll not die like this! Our God never fails.
Personally I’ve prayed for two dead people in previous years yet they remain terribly dead! But does that mean God is not answering my prayers? No. Genuine miracles are the works of God, not the works of man. Mk. 16:18b says “and they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Your job as a believer is to lay hands and pray, His job is to make them recover. Stop playing God! That position is too big for you to handle. He is GOD and that is his responsibility. Just align your ways right before Him and ask for His mercy, the top shall be your portion. Have you giving to the poor before? God will pay you. Every labour or sacrifice from your heart shall never be in vain. Bury your Moses and take up your Joshua; for there are yet many lands to conquer. One name Jesus will continue to bear in the new earth is called- The Faithfull One. All other names may pass away, but he remains THE FAITHFUL (Rev.19:11) He always keeps covenant.  2 Tim.2:11-13 says “It’s a faithful sayings: for if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: if we suffer, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us: if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” He’s the faithful God whether we believe or not. As you trust him, he’ll lift you up and you shall not see shame in Jesus name. Address every devil against your progress. January 2003 God told me “if you praise me, I’ll honour you. If you follow me, I’ll exalt you.” 10 years now, I know He’s faithful to His word. I see everything turning for your good today! You’ll testify. The world will celebrate your testimony one day!

Let Us Pray:

Lord Jesus, we come to you laying down all secret grudges that we are carrying against our neighbours and against you. We repent now. We ask for your mercy. Let your mercy wipe away all my messes. Thank you for forgiving my sins. Write my name in the book of Life.
Satan, take your hands off our finances, families, ministries, businesses and destinies in the name of Jesus. We take all that belong to us. We refuse to loose any but we recover all our lost and stolen blessings in the name of Jesus.
I now receive grace to be faithful to your word and make necessary changes that will move me forward. Thank you for answers to this prayer in Jesus precious name. Amen. Shalom!
