WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SAVED? By Dr. Emma C. Innocent

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SAVED?

this is an excerpt from my book - SAVED TO SAVE OTHERS

What does it mean to be saved or to receive salvation?

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Salvation in Greek word is soteria while saved is soter which is translated as complete deliverance from sin, sickness, poverty, disease, destruction, judgment, curses, death, hell and the devil.
When you are saved, you are given a package called SALVATION and everlasting life is one of it. Everlasting life is the sum of God’s total being. It is the life that never fails nor fades. This means, you are not saved for some years and then you start experiencing the old life. No! You are engrafted into God. Your DNA becomes God’s DNA. You become godlike. Jesus quoted Ps. 82:6 which says “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”
You are a god! A god cannot be sick or broke. You carry divinity in humanity. What is in you is the tree of life. The soteria makes you live above the world system, sin and the devil. Your salvation is what gives birth to other blessings of God in your life. Synonyms of Everlasting life are:
·         It is the blessing (as in singular, not blessings) that makes rich and adds no sorrow with it – Prov. 10:22
·         It is Christ in you the hope of glory – Col.1:27b
·         It is the power that makes wealth – Deut. 8:18
·         It is the key of David – Isa. 22:22, Rev. 3:7
·         It is the tree of life in the Garden of Eden – Gen. 3:22, Rev. 22:1-3, 2 Tim.1:10.
·         It is the kingdom of God – Jn. 3:3
Back to the definition of Salvation, if Salvation or to be saved means complete deliverance from sin, sickness, poverty, disease, destruction, judgment, curses, death, hell and the devil. It then means that the opposite of these are yours in Christ. Therefore Salvation can be also defined as the total prosperity of spirit, soul and body which includes:
i.                    Righteousness
ii.                  Healing
iii.                Health
iv.                Wealth
v.                  Protection/Security
vi.                Justification
vii.              Blessings
viii.            Eternal life
ix.                Heaven
x.                  Jesus Christ
These ten (10) benefits of Salvation are given to you once in Christ. Let explain briefly each of them:
a)      Righteousness: the nature of sin has been rolled away and we have received the righteousness of Christ. The power of sin is replace with the power of righteousness – Col. 1:13, 1Cor.1:30

b)      Healing: the price for your bodily healing has been paid for. Sickness has no right on your body. Isa. 53:4-5, Jer. 33:6

c)      Health: in Salvation, we have been given health or wholeness in body and soul. Healing is for the children so also health. Nevertheless it takes revelation to access this benefit in Christ. Believe it and confess it, they are yours in Christ. 3 John vs 2b, Jer.8:22.
The Greek word for health used in Acts 27:34 is “sodzo” meaning “to preserve (2 Tim.4:18); to make whole (Mt.9:22, Mk.5:34)

d)     Wealth: Salvation offers physical, financial and material possessions. 3 John vs 2, 2 Cor. 8:9.

e)      Protection/Security: Salvation guarantees freedom from slavery, protection from evil and our enemies. Luke 1:71, Ps. 91:3-15.

f)       Justification: Salvation guarantees that you are declared “not guilty” each time the devil throws accusation against you – Rom.5:1, 8:1

g)      Blessings: Salvation guarantees happiness in this life. Everything that pertains to life and godliness are embedded in salvation. So it is possible to have wealth with joy. This salvation guarantees that. 2 Pet. 1:3. Curses cannot rest on the person with salvation. The blessing of Abraham is ours in Christ - Gal. 3:13-14.

h)      Eternal Life: Salvation guarantees life everlasting. No death in Christ. The power of life is in every believer. We can work in signs and wonders because we carry eternal life. John 3:16.

i)        Heaven: Salvation guarantees our eternal destination which is heaven. When you give your life to Jesus, you are signing your name to be with him in heaven. Heaven is a place for total bliss and I am sure you would not want to miss that awesome place. Heaven is a guaranteed place for those who are saved. Eternal security with Christ is yours when you are truly saved. Hell issue has been dealt with for all believers if we hold unto our salvation. John 3:18a, Luke 10:20, 2Cor. 12:2.

j)        Jesus Christ: Salvation guarantees a relationship with Jesus Christ. While his life makes us live like him, his person communes with us. We are engrafted into the body of Christ. We are brothers. Anything that affects us, affects Him. We are one with Him. This is the highest benefit of salvation.
1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…”

1 John 4:17b “because as he is, so are we in this world.”

JESUS IS LORD!!!

  1. Hi, Dr.Emma. I read your EndlessGloryMagazine site. It was great! I noticed that the font color in the "Saved" article is hard to read on computer and maybe impossible on a mobile phone. Also in 101 benefits of tongues, number 43 should be pilum, not plume, though lance or spear could be substituted for pilum. Feel free to delete this post after reading it. Keep praying without ceasing. Thank you Emma, and God richly bless you and yours in Christ.
